Dog Behaviour and Training Consultations

At Skills 4 Paws, behaviour and training consultations are designed to support families in building a harmonious bond with their pets. Through a thoughtful approach, Fatima helps families understand their dog’s unique needs and behaviours while teaching effective, compassionate techniques to address them. Whether it’s setting a puppy up for success, helping the dog settle into a new family and home, or guiding a dog through specific behaviour modifications, consultations focus on creating a sustainable and positive relationship that benefits both pets and their families.
From the moment you send us your enquiry, here's what you can expect:
1. We'll respond to your enquiry confirming how we can assist you, and provide a quote for the service
2. Once you’re ready to proceed, we’ll schedule your consultation. Your booking will be confirmed upon receipt of payment
3. You’ll receive a detailed form to complete before the consultation. This helps us gather insights into your pet’s current situation, behaviours, and environment
4. On consultation day, our trainer will assess your pet's behaviours, temperament, and responsiveness to training. This is also a chance to discuss your goals and concerns in detail
5. After the consultation, we’ll provide you with a tailored Action Plan outlining clear steps to address the behaviours of concern
6. Our trainer will remain available to support you via text and calls as you work through the Action Plan. Additionally, we’ll offer options for hands-on training sessions where our trainer works directly with your dog to achieve meaningful progress. When you feel confident, we’ll ensure you have the tools and knowledge to continue independently.

We develop personalised strategies based on the information you provide and the assessment conducted during the consultation. The goal is to build trust, understanding, and a strong bond between you and your dog while promoting desired behaviours.
-
How long is a session?First consultations: Typically last 1 to 2 hours, depending on the complexity of the case Follow-up sessions: Usually 1 hour each, and are tailored to your dog’s progress and needs The duration of the overall training program will depend on the specific issue, your family’s commitment to the Action Plan, and your dog’s motivation.
-
Do you provide follow-up support?Absolutely! The Action Plan serves as a roadmap toward your goals. For families with the time and skills to implement the plan independently, minimal support may be needed. If you’re short on time or prefer additional guidance, we offer options for follow-up training sessions. Our trainer is also available for ongoing support via text messages and scheduled phone calls to help you stay on track.
-
Can you help the whole family get involved?Of course! The more consistent the training, the better the results. We encourage all family members to participate in the process, ensuring your dog receives clear and unified guidance.
-
Do you provide behaviour medication? No, we do not prescribe medication. Behaviour medication can be beneficial for dogs experiencing mental health issues, which may contribute to certain behavioural challenges, but it must be prescribed by a veterinarian. If we identify that medication might support your dog’s progress, we will recommend a veterinary behaviourist or a vet with a special interest in behaviour to work alongside us in achieving the best outcome.
